The Alaris Carefusion 8300 EtCO2 Module utilizes patented micro stream Non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) Spectroscopy technology developed by Oridion. This module continuously measures the amount of CO2 during each breath, including the CO2 levels at the end of exhalation (EtCO2) and during inhalation (FiCO2), as well as the respiratory rate. It functions as a sidestream capnograph, where disposables are used to deliver a gas sample from the ventilator or directly from the patient to the monitor for CO2 measurement. The micro stream inline filter extracts moisture and patient secretions from the sample while preserving the shape of the CO2 waveform. The Alaris Carefusion 8300 EtCO2 Module utilizes a micro sample cell (15 Microliters) to release the gas sample for analysis.
